WENDY RETURNS TO THE SEYMOUR CENTRE!!!
Visionary Songstress Wendy Rule brings her new double album ‘Persephone’ to Sydney for one very special night only.
This beautifully evocative retelling of the Ancient Greek myth of the Goddess Persephone’s descent into the Underworld is a focused song cycle, designed to guide the listener through this ancient tale of the cycles of Nature. With subtle textures that reference her early life as a jazz singer in her previous home town of Melbourne, and the trademark dark, gothic soundscapes and soaring vocals of her previous 7 major albums, Persephone is a unique 24 track journey through the realms of Life, Death, and human emotion.
Singing in the voices of the three Goddesses that feature in the myth (the maiden Persephone who becomes Queen of the Underworld, her grieving mother Demeter, and the wise Goddess Hekate), Wendy teams up with fellow musicians Rachel Samuel (cello), Elissa Goodrich (vibraphone/ percussion), and Timothy (guitars and soundscapes) to present a truly unique live music experience.
